Detoxification usually lasts just a few days and is managed under the supervision of doctors and nurses at our residential treatment centers. Each patient is handed a complete physical including a lab profile and monitored 24/7 throughout the withdrawal period. When necessary, medications are used to scale down the severity of withdrawal symptoms. Patients receive more than 40 hours per week of private counseling, pastoral sessions, family therapy and group therapy. For some patients, Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) is recommended, which combines behavioral therapy and medications to treat substance misuse disorders. In addition, all patients learn about the different stages of addiction treatment and the continuum of care available to maintain their recovery. Patients are also active in local 12-step meetings where they can find support from people who have been mastered the road of addiction themselves.
